US: Judge dismisses federal antitrust suit regarding ambulance service

The United States District Court for the District of South Dakota has dismissed an antitrust lawsuit brought against the City of Sioux Falls and the Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority by an unsuccessful bidder for ambulance service in the city.

    Roberto Lange US District Court Judge, entered a Judgment of Dismissal on May 11, 2015, dismissing the lawsuit “on its merits, with prejudice,” which means the same case cannot be brought to the court again.

    “The courts have now confirmed the legality of the City’s highly competitive and objective selection process to choose the next ambulance service provider within our community,” said Franken. “That selection process led to a recommendation from the medical community and the ultimate selection of Paramedics Plus as the City’s ambulance provider. We are looking forward to the high quality services they will bring to our community.”
