US/UK: Verisk Analytics to buy Scottish Energy research firm for $2.8 billion

Verisk Analytics has agreed to acquire British energy data firm Wood Mackenzie for more than 1.85 billion pounds, according to the New York Times.

    Wood Mackenzie, a private research consultancy owned by buyout firm Hellman & Friedman, is focused on gatheringand analyzing data about the energy industry.

    The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the second quarter.
