Mexico: Regulator sets up first advisory council

The Mexican communications regulator IFT has announced the creation of its first advisory council, made up of 15 experts in telecommunications, broadcasting, competition, freedom of speech and public policy. One of the experts is our very own Elisa Mariscal Medina.

    The IFT said the specialists were chosen due to their experience in the public and private sector as well as in academia and civil society “to help the regulator in its task to promote the efficient development of telecommunications and broadcasting in the country”.

    The creation of a panel of experts is one of the provisions contained in Mexico’s new Federal Telecommunications and Broadcasting Act.
