EU: Premier of China likely to address the nation’s antitrust dealings at forum

The World Economic Forum meeting this week for the 45th annual meeting is expecting a rare appearance from China Premier Li Keqiang, and experts say the focus of the forum is likely to land on the nation’s antitrust dealings.

    China made the move after experts on modern Chinese politics the country to use the forum to reassure foreign businesses that China is still open for business.The experts further urged officials to explain companies legal rights targeted firms and to announce how China can switch to a less aggressive approach of enforcement.

    In light of the country’s antitrust investigations into foreign entities, foreign companies are hoping China will start to enforce regulations equally for both foreign and domestic businesses. Whether changes will be announced is unknown, but companies will at least be given the opportunity pose questions and criticism.
