Ukraine: Competition watchdog should choose anti-corruption head, president says

Ukraine’s Competition Commission should determine the procedures under which the nation’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau head will chosen, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said.

    According to reports, President Poroshenko is urging policymakers to quickly put in place a method for selecting the new anti-corruption chief. The remarks were made in the first official meeting of the Competition Commission regarding the election of the position.

    President Poroshenko had previously speculated that a foreigner could take the position. Now, say reports, he is urging the competition watchdog to establish the guidelines of choosing the new anti-corruption leader, which would include whether a foreigner could take the position.
