Mexico: AT&T cleared for DirecTV deal

Mexico officials have announced their approval for AT&T to acquire DirecTV, a controversial takeover that will not likely see such quick clearance in the US.

    According to reports, Mexico’s Federal Telecommunications Institute approved of the takeover; AT&T now has all necessary clearance for the deal except from US officials.

    Earlier approvals were given to the deal by authorities from Brazil and Trinidad and Tobago.
