Pakistan: World Bank honors CCP

The Competition Commission of Pakistan was honored by the World Bank for its work in promoting competition, say reports.

    The WB presented CCP chairman Dr. Joseph Wilson with the award for its 2013 Competition Advocacy Contest; reports say the honor was in the category of “successfully promoting pro-competition market reforms, opening of markets, and infusion of competition principles in other sectoral policies.”

    The World Bank announced the award earlier this year and highlighted the CCP’s work in the air transpiration industry that lead to new airline competitors and a reduction in cost for consumer air travel.

    In a statement, the World Bank said it is “pleased to share many successful advocacy stories from competition authorities in developing and emerging markets.”
