    A leading Canadian newspaper conglomerate, Postmedia Network, announced plans to acquire Quebecor’s Sun Media and 175 of its newspapers. The deal is valued at more than $280 million, according to reports.

    If cleared, the takeover will hand the majority of English-language newspapers over to Postmedia. Canada’s Competition Bureau is reportedly planning to probe the takeover to examine its effects on competition within the nation’s print media industry.
