French telco Iliad set a deadline for itself to decide on whether to further pursue an acquisition of US wireless firm T-Mobile, and as it approaches that date, unnamed sources say Iliad will increase its offer.
Iliad is set to propose an even larger acquisition of the US company, the sources said, but did not specify how much of the company Iliad is after or at what price. T-Mobile parent company Deutsche Telekom is also reported to be in discussions with Iliad to decide whether to accept a new offer.
T-Mobile has been in merger limbo since its closest rival Sprint decided not to pursue a merger earlier this year. Iliad has emerged as the new top contender for the company, though T-Mobile has already turned down a bid.
Iliad set a deadline for later this month to reach a preliminary agreement with Deutsche Telekom on a deal, according to reports.
