Competition authorities in Argentina are reportedly still uncertain as to whether they should approve of Telecom Italia’s proposed divestitures of its assets in the country.
Unnamed sources said the National Commission for the Defense of Competition has not decided on how it will rule regarding the $960 million sale of Telecom Italia’s Argentinian unit, Telecom Argentina. The Italian telco is looking to sell the assets to investment fund Fintech. Telecom Italia agreed last year to sell its 22.7 percent controlling stake in the company.
The Italian company said earlier this month that if Argentina failed to clear the sale, it would rethink its strategy for the future of its presence in the South American nation.
