US: IL school district sued for bid-rigging

An Illinois company has filed a lawsuit accusing the School City of Hammond, Illinois and rival Stevens Engineers & Constructors of illegal bid-rigging, say reports.

    Illinois Mechanical Sales filed the suit after losing a bid to win a project to replace a boiler at Morton Senior High School. The lawsuit argues that the school district and Stevens Engineers colluded to ensure that Stevens Engineers won the contract.

    Reports say Illinois Mechanical is seeking a court to declare that its own bid was the lowest in the auction, arguing that there were several deficiencies in Stevens Engineers’ winning offer.
