US: France’s Iliad eyes revamped T-Mobile takeover strategy

French wireless operator Iliad said Monday that it is considering revamping efforts to acquire US-based T-Mobile and that it could soon put in an offer for the company.

    According to reports, Iliad’s statement assured the market that it has not given up on a possible buyout of the US’s fourth-largest wireless operator. Iliad said that it is in discussions with several possible partners to make a joint bid for the firm, though those co-bidders were not named.

    T-Mobile is in limbo following US rival Sprint’s decision to end plans to merge with the company. Soon after, Iliad offered $15 billion for T-Mobile, but its parent company, Deutsche Telekom, rejected the bid.

    Reports say Iliad is seeking to enter the one of world’s largest telco markets through a buyout of T-Mobile.
