Hong Kong: New Competition Commission names its leader

    Stanley Wong will lead the new competition authority, the Commission said Monday. Wong will take his position on September 3.

    Wong, who has worked with the European Commission and China’s National Development and Reform Commission, is currently practicing in Canada, reports say. Among his accomplishments includes the training of NDRC officials, as well as officials at China’s State Administration for Industry and Commerce.

    Hong Kong first launched its competition legislation in 2012. The Competition Commission continues to move through the process of getting staffed and interpreting the new laws to curb anticompetitive abuse.
