Lindt chocolates cooks up Russel Stover takeover

Swiss chocolate maker Chocoladefabriken Lindt & Sprüngli announced Monday it has reached an agreement to acquire US-based Russell Stover Candies in a transaction that will make Lindt North America’s third-largest competitor in the market.

    Lindt, which already owns Ghiradelli Chocolate, called its acquisition of Russell Stover the “biggest and most important strategic acquisition to date” for the company.

    Financial details of the buyout were not revealed by the companies.
