Athletic Association to delay an impending antitrust trial, reports say the NCAA has not given up yet and filed an emergency petition with the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals to push back the June 9 date.
The appeals court was asked to vacate US District Judge Claudia Wilken’s ruling of the trial date and to order that this particular lawsuit be held off until after another, similar trial filed by Sam Keller.
The Keller case is set for trial in March 2015 and will hear the case surrounding the use of NCAA athletes’ names and likeness in videogames.
The trial set for June was filed by former NCAA athlete Ed O’Bannon, later joined by other plaintiffs, over athlete compensation.
This marks the NCAA’s fifth attempt to have the trial pushed back.
