France: Bouygues sweetens deal even further with boosted SFR bid

After Bouygues reportedly offered to divest spectrum to quell competition concerns over its planned proposal to acquire wireless operator SFR, reports say the telco is now also boosting its offer for the acquisition to $15.8 billion.

    Bouygues is in a bidding war with Numericable to acquire the French operator, currently owned by Vivendi. No deal has been struck, but experts have already hypothesized that antitrust concerns would be less for Numericable, as it is not in direct competition with SFR.

    In order to quell the competition concerns already rising from its offer, Bouygues has offered to sell spectrum to startup Iliad.

    But Numericable has also reportedly boosted its offer for SFR, thought the company did not release details on that bid.
