Germany/Argentina: Bayer strikes seed deal in South America

A subsidiary of Germany’s pharmaceutical giant Bayer has reached an agreement to acquire a seed distributor in Argentina, say reports.

    Bayer CropScience will buy Biagro Group, the South American company that produces biological seed treatments, say reports. The deal aims to boost Bayer’s soybean operations in South America.

    Biagro specializes in pest management that uses bacteria and fungus. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed by the parties.

    Argentinian competition authorities must clear the deal before it is finalized.
