Car sales website Carsales.com is reportedly blaming the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission for expanding its operations outside of the nation.
The accusations were reportedly made in response to the ACCC’s decision to block Carsales.com from acquiring Telstra’s classifieds operations Trading Post.
In a statement, Carsales.com head Greg Roebuck said the competition regulator “doesn’t want Carsales.com to grow in Australia,” forcing the company to “look offshore” for new opportunities.
Telstra is set to maintain its classifieds business after failing to find another interested buyer.
Reports say Carsales.com recently made a $6.45 million purchase of iCar Asia.
