Germany: Nokia earns third IP victory against HTC

Smartphone maker Nokia has reportedly won an injunction against rival HTC in Germany for patent infringement, the third victory for Nokia over its rival in the nation in only the last two months.

    Nokia launched litigation against HTC on accusations the company infringed on a Nokia patent; the win marks the companies third win in Germany in addition to another win in the UK earlier this year.

    Following the UK case, Nokia said “HTC’s New Year’s resolution should be to stop infringing Nokia patents.”

    In a statement, Nokia said it is pleased with the Regional Court in Mannheim’s decision, which ruled in favor of the tech firm earlier last week. According to Nokia, the win boosts enforcement of an injunction against the sale and import of infringing HTC products in the nation.

    The world’s top contending technology firms have been engaging in so-called patent wars in the last few years as they launch litigation each other for intellectual property infringement.
