Wireless operator Airtel Kenya has reportedly launched a legal battle against rival Safaricom, accusing the company of anticompetitive business practices. According to reports, Airtel is now seeking a court order to revive its complaints against the competitor after the Competition Authority of Kenya dismissed the case.
Airtel alleges that Safaricom holds an unfair dominance over the wireless market and, when it approached competition regulators with the matter, says that plans for a hearing were abruptly dismissed once Safaricom expressed a desire to settle the matter outside of court.
But Airtel is now seeking a court order to follow through with the hearing, arguing that it was prepared to make its case and that it has a legal right to the hearing.
