New Zealand: Telco Chorus questions Commission’s authority

Following a ruling by the Competition Commission impacting copper wire prices, telco firm Chorus is questioning the regulator’s ability to effectively regulate, slamming the Commission’s ruling by claiming that “greater consideration needs to be given to determining the degree of discretion/policymaking given to regulatory institutions.”

    The Commission’s ruling will reportedly slash Chorus’ revenue by millions for its Internet services. The company appealed the Commission’s decision to the Productivity Commission, which will now review the Commission and other regulatory bodies.
