Chile: CorpBanca seeking bank merger suitors

Chile’s private lender CorpBanca is reportedly looking into possible merger plans with either a local or foreign bank, having already launched initial discussions with banks in Canada, Brazil and Spain.

    Local news reported that CorpBanca is talking with fellow Chilean bank BCI, as well as Brazil’s Itau Unibanco, Canada’s Bank of Nova Scotia, and Spain’s BBVA.

    CorpBanca first announced possible merger plans last Friday.
