UK: New CMA chooses latest senior member

The UK’s new Competition and Markets Authority, which is set to begin operations next year, has recruited Norton Rose Fulbright partner Michael Grenfell to a senior policy role, according to reports.

    Grenfell will resign from the law firm in the next few months to take the position of senior director, senior regulation and concurrency at the authority.

    According to the lawyer, the position will entail more policy work than legal work and involve working with markets in the UK regulated by the CMA, including gas, water, telco and airports.

    The CMA is set to launch April 1 of next year.
