US: Details emerge over DOJ demands for AA, US Airways deal

Reports say the US Department of Justice will need broad concessions from American Airlines and US Airways should the airlines proceed with their planned merger, a source told media Sunday.

    Divestures of airport rights and other assets would be required to earn regulatory clearance and put an end to a lawsuit launched by the DOJ to block the deal.

    The Wall St Journal first reported the development.

    Specific airports and other divestures the DOJ would like to see were unclear, however.

    The airlines and US regulators are slated to go to trial November 25 in a fight regarding a deal that would lead to the world’s largest airline.
