Malaysia: MyCC ruling challenged by airlines

Malaysia’s competition regulator MyCC is now facing challenges to its recent ruling that imposed fines of two of the nation’s airlines for illegal collusive behavior, say reports.

    The regulator fined Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia after MyCC found the two to have made a collaboration agreement; the fines amounted to $3.2 million.

    In response, the airlines are challenging the regulator’s decision. Malaysia Airlines is now seeking a hearing to argue against the fines and said it is awaiting confirmation from the watchdog for a court date. Both companies have reportedly issued official protests of the fines, which were issued last September.
