China: Call to dismiss lawsuit against defunct energy co gets backing

Another company has joined in the fight to dismiss legal procedures against them by the trustee for now-defunct Energy Conversion Devices, according to reports.

    Yingli Green was joined by Trina Solar in efforts to dismiss the case; the two China-based companies, along with Suntech Power Holdings, are being sued in Michigan for $950 million by the Energy Conversion Devices Liquidation Trust.

    Details on the lawsuit are scarce, but reports say Trina Solar has responded to the lawsuit and described the claims as “without merit.”

    Similarly, Yingli Green called the claims against the company “baseless.”

    EDC was among the top manufacturers of flexible thin-film modules, though never made an annual profit.
