Spain: Transport sector hit with $57M price-fixing fine

Business associations, companies and the Valencia Port Authority have all been slammed with fines totaling more than $57 million by the Spanish Competition Commission for price-fixing, say reports.

    The SCC issued a press release on the matter earlier this month announcing its findings that fined parties colluded to fix prices and share market information in the road transport by container sector for transport coming from Valencia Harbor.

    The SCC said the collusion occurred over a period of 13 years.

    In total, five business associations, three companies and the port authority were all issued fines. The latter of which was found to be the ringleader in the collusion, according to the competition watchdog.
