Russia: FAS inspection fine backed against Metro Cash & Carry

A federal court in Russia has upheld the nation’s competition watchdog’s earlier decision to fine Metro Cash & Carry, denying the company’s appeal on grounds that Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service carried out illegal searches in the company’s offices.

    The federal Commercial Court of the Moscow District upheld the fine issued on Metro Cash & Carry after it refused to comply with the FAS’s onsite inspections.

    The company was fined the equivalent of nearly $9,500.
