Ireland/US: Glass firm offers divestures to appease US regs

Ireland-based glass firm Ardagh said Friday the company is willing to divest some operations in order to appease the US Federal Trade Commission, which filed a complaint against Ardagh last July regarding its buyout of Verallia North America glass packaging operations.

    Ardagh made the buyout from current owner Saint-Gobain, based in France.

    According to reports, the Irish company said it would sell four glass container manufacturing plants acquired from VNA to a single buyer in order to quell competition concerns raised by the FTC.
