UK: Tesco chain acquisition cleared for checkout

The UK’s Office of Fair Trading cleared a buyout of 33 convenience stores run by the chain Spar by a unit of Tesco, say reports.

    Tesco’s One Stop will acquire the stores from Alfred Jones, which owns the Spar chain, following regulatory approval.

    The OFT announced last July that it would review the buyout. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed in reports.
