UK: Ofcom wants cooperation on easy cable switching

The head of the UK’s communications watchdog Ofcom has called upon cable providers to work with regulators in facilitating the process of allowing consumers to switch cable companies, say reports.

    Ofcom CEO Ed Richards spoke at the Consumers and Citizens in the Communications Sector event, held in London, to rally carriers to “transform” the way consumers can switch between competing providers and allow customers to take advantage of what Richards sees as increased competition in the market.

    The address came about a month after Ofcom announced new policies to facilitate consumers’ switching between landline and broadband providers.
