US: Too early to block Vegas newspaper buyout, says judge

US District Judge James Manhan refused to stop the buyout of a Las Vegas newspaper by its rival, ruling Friday that the case was too premature to issue such an injunction.

    The Last Vegas Review-Journal’s parent company is looking to acquire its competitor the Las Vegas Sun; the Sun’s editor-publisher vowed to keep fighting the buyout however.

    The two publications have held a joint operating partnership since 1989, separating their editorial staffs but publishing the two together.
