UK: Watchdog mulls dropping Amazon pricing dispute

The UK’s Office of Fair Trading is reportedly considering dropping its probe into major online retailer Amazon.com Inc. over its pricing policies, investigated for their potential anticompetitive effect.

    The policy in dispute includes the retailer’s Marketplace sales community. The watchdog was reportedly concerned the policies would lead to higher prices for consumers, leading the OFT to launch an investigation into the matter in October, 2012.

    Reports say the OFT has not reached a decision on whether the pricing policies are, in fact, anticompetitive, but will continue to monitor the company.
