US: FTC heeds Klobuchar’s calls for oil oversight

The US Federal Trade Commission responded to Senate antitrust subcommittee head Amy Klobuchar’s call for a review of the nation’s oil market following complaints oil companies are pressuring gas stations to carry higher-priced gas. The FTC now says it will look into the allegations, though did not announce a formal investigation into the matter. In response, Klobuchar said she was “pleased” with the regulator’s decision to probe the matter. The senator called upon the FTC and the Department of Justice to investigate the claims last week.
