UK: OFT misses bus buyout deadline

The UK’s Office of Fair Trading reportedly missed its deadline of July 26 to rule on a buyout of a public transportation bus company, leaving the town of Redditch in limbo for another 20 days. Bus company Diamond acquired rival First Bus but the deal remains under review by the OFT. Reports say the buyout could also be referred to the Competition Commission. If cleared, Diamond will reportedly carry out its network review currently on hold while the merger awaits clearance.
