American Airlines unions have joined the campaign to support the airline’s merger with US Airways. Three unions that represent the majority of AA’s employees have joined the ad campaign as they face federal questioning about the transaction. The campaign includes a full-page advertisement in major publications promoting the merger and highlighting the rareness of employees supporting their companies with decisions such as these. According to reports, one of the three unions, the Transport Workers, are also working with legislators to guarantee the ability to defer taxes on 90 percent of their lump-sum payments, granted when the airlines ended the workers’ pension plans.
