UK: BT files abuse of dominance against BSkyB to Ofcom over sports programming

British Telecom, or BT, one of the largest telecommunications providers, has filed a formal complaint with the UK’s communications watchdog Ofcom accusing broadcasting giant BSkyB of abuse of dominance, according to reports. BSkyB is specifically accused of breaching competition law in how it provides Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 to BT; according to BT, BSkyB has refused to provide the channels to BT on its viewing platform YouView, despite providing those channels to competing pay-TV broadcaster. Ofcom has decided to take up the matter and has launched an official inquiry into the matter.
