Thailand: Regs finalize merger guidelines

In its second meeting of the year, the Trade Competition Commission has agreed upon and approved of criteria that will determine which business mergers will be approved and which will not. According to reports, the TCC will handle mergers that do not meet standard guidelines under the Trade Competition Act of 1999. The announcement was made by Thailand’s Commerce Minister Boonsong Teriyapirom, in which the outlines were listed; the outlines include that the businesses involved in a merger must have at least 30 percent of market share either before or after the completed deal.
