US: Case over NCAA’s Penn State fines tossed

The National collegiate Athletic Association scored a big win on Thursday as a district judge threw out a case that accused the NCAA’s fining of Penn State over fines issued in the Jerry Sandusky scandal as anticompetitive and in violation of antitrust law. US District Judge Yvette Kane ruled that plaintiffs did not sufficiently prove that the NCAA violated antitrust law by issuing a $60 million fine to Penn State for its failure to prevent the scandal initiated by the former assistant football coach. The lawsuit was brought by Governor Tom Corbett.
