US: Who will head the world’s largest airline?

AMR Corp., the parent to American Airlines, and US Airways have announced that the head of the new company – the result of a merger between the two airlines – will be revealed in just a few days. As American Chief Executive Officer continues to make recommendations, the new leader of the world’s largest airline will be ultimately decided by the head of US Airways. The combined company will operate under the American Airlines name, according to reports. AMR also confirmed to reporters that the merger remains on its scheduled timeline and the parties expect to complete the deal in the third quarter. AMR expects no complications from the US Department of Justice’s second request for more information concerning the transaction.
