UK: Experts say less than 10% chance of Britvic, Barr beverage merger

Despite a proposed plan that would result in one of the strongest competitors within the European drinks market, experts say the chances that those plans will actually happen are at less than 10 percent. The Competition Commission is currently reviewing the deal that would see Britvic and AG Barr combine and, according to Britvic, will announce its ruling at the end of July. The all-share deal, agreed upon by the two parties last November, but, due to a growing rebound by Britvic, reports say the conglomerate will likely pursue a more traditional takeover of its rival – that is, if talks between the two companies resume in August.
