EU: UK accuses EU of stunting ultra-fast broadband agenda

The European Commission is reportedly focusing its concern onto market competition when it comes to the UK’s efforts to update its broadband, a focus the UK claims is stunting the development of the program. According to reports, the UK is looking to receive EU state aid for the project, which would develop the UK’s superfast broadband. Earning that aid has proven difficult, however, with redefined guidelines posing as a new hurdle for the project. According to the Department of Culture, Media and Sports, the Commission would require an investigation lasting up to 18 months for the UK to secure the necessary funds.
