Netherlands/Germany: Family owned business in big-time talks

Family-owned business Bolletje, maker of baked foods, is in talks concerning a possible buyout from Germany-based Borggrebe. The Dutch Competition Authority previously blocked an attempt by Continental Bakers to buy the company; according to reports, the NMa was concerned over the fact that the merger would lead to up to an 80 percent control of the market in the Netherlands. The takeover by Borggreve, however, will not require regulatory approval.
