Mexico: Class action targets telecom co of world’s richest man

Mexico has filed a class action lawsuit against the world’s wealthiest person Carlos Slim’s Telmex, a fixed line telecommunications company, for illegal charges of data protection that experts say are guaranteed by the Constitution. The consumer protection agency has reportedly been eyeing the issues since 2012. The number of potential customers the class action could reach could not be precisely estimated. Telmex was charged by the nation’s antitrust watchdog Cofeco $52 million for monopolistic business practices.
