Romania: Mobile frequencies up for grabs, but no one wants it

The communication authority in Romania, ANCOM, has announced that it will allow frequency usage in the 450MHz band by request after a planned auction of the frequencies yielded no serious bidders. The frequencies, once owned by operator Zapp, will be used for push-to0-talk, data transmission, and other mobile services. Telemobil, which previously controlled the frequencies, had its rights expire last March. ANCOM noted that there may be a future auction if interest and sufficient competition increases.
