Finland: Authorities want plastic pipe merger blocked

The Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority has announced it will act to block a merger between two manufacturers of plastic pipe, citing that the deal will likely increase costs for consumers. Uponor and KWH Group have joined their pipe infrastructure businesses in a move announced last September; according to the companies, the merger is the result of intensified competition combined with falling demand. The case will now be referred to the Market Court, which can approve or prohibit the merger.
