Armenia: Antitrust chairman bridges national, international relations in Carrefour issue

The chairman of Armenia’s State Commission for Protection of Economic Competition has announced he has invited representatives of grocery retail giant Carrefour for discussions to discuss how the French company can surpass obstacles in the Armenian market. Chairman Artak Shaboyan noted that it would be an “unofficial conversation” and that if the discussion convinces Shaboyan that there is legitimate cause for concern, that he would go to the Commission to help resolve it. As Carrefour is a global enterprise, the chairman also emphasized that antitrust regulators do not discriminate between Armenian or foreign economic bodies.
