Mexico: Joint study looks to save taxpayers millions in government healthcare overhaul

Information obtained by CPI directly from Mexico’s competition authority, the CFC, outlines the authority’s joint report with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) with the bodies’ recommendations for ISSSTE, the health service provider for government employees. The report focuses on improving the procurement system for ISSSTE and fighting collusion. According to the CFC, similar studies have been conducted within other federal institutions, “all with very positive outcomes,” the authority said. Their report contains 34 recommendations on how to positively reform ISSSTE, ultimately in an effort to save millions of dollars for Mexican taxpayers.
