Netherlands: Authorities green-light hospital merger

The Netherlands Competition Authority has announced its approval of a merger between two of the nation’s healthcare providers. HagaZiekenhuis Foundation and Reinier de Graaf Groep Foundation, both based in the west, have been approved to merge as the NMa has found no concern over competition, noting that “enough hospitals” remain in the area that can compete with the two merged bodies. The view, the authority announced, is shared unanimously by the other hospitals and health insurers interviewed for the review of the merger.
