Reports say that Bulgaria’s Commission for Protection of Competition has agreed to allow United Bulgarian Bank to acquire Postbank, two subsidiaries of the National Bank of Greece and Eurobank, respectively. Greek authorities recently allowed for a merger between the National Bank of Greece and Eurobank. According to reports, Bulgaria weighed opinions by the Central Bank, the Financial Supervision Commission, and other authorities and competitors in the deal, ultimately deciding that the merger would not pose a threat to competition.
